The course consists of nine modules:
Estimating Procedures
Long Distance Moving – Canada (2 modules)
Long Distance Moving – Canada/USA/Mexico
Local Moving
Permanent Storage (3 modules)
Office Moving
Each module contains the reading material required for the area of study, as well as the tests and assignments that ensure that the material has been learned. Once a module has been completed, the student can move on to the next one.
Movers who complete the course will have an understanding of the moving consultant's role and of the services provided by movers in Canada. In addition, they will have developed a familiarity with the Internet and email services.
The course may be changed occasionally. All those registered will be advised of any changes to ensure they are kept up to date on the industry.
At the end of the course, each graduating student will receive a framed certificate indicating successful completion of the course. The certificate will show that the individual is a Canadian Professional Mover and that the course was delivered by Dalhousie University.
The requirements for the course are that:
The individual must be employed by a company that is a CAM member in good standing;
The individual must have access to a computer that is connected to the Internet and have an e-mail address that is either personal or shared.
The cost of the course is $300 (plus GST).
