CAM’s MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY AND MAGAZINE

The Fall 2007 issue of The Canadian Mover, CAM’s membership directory and magazine, will go to press in mid-October. Check your listing online and let us know before October 1 if there are any changes to your listing that you would like made.

The Canadian Mover is Canada’s only magazine for the moving and storage industry. It’s a great way to get your contact information and message out to your marketplace. Contact CAM’s office for advertising information and rates.

CAM’s 2007 ANNUAL CONFERENCE

We have had several inquiries about the date and location of the Canadian Association of Movers’ 2007 Annual Conference. It will be held on Monday and Tuesday, December 3 and 4, 2007, at the Renaissance Toronto Airport Hotel, 801 Dixon Road, Toronto.

The conference’s title is “Success and Succession.” It will address how you as an owner/manager can maximize the value and operating efficiency of your business whether you are planning to keep the business or sell it.

Mark your calendar now and watch your mail for details in the mail.

CAM’S MOVING INDUSTRY AWARDS

CAM will hold its 6th Annual Awards Dinner in conjunction with the annual conference on the evening of Monday, December 3. It’s a time when movers get together to honour pioneers, innovators and contributors to our industry — people who have made a difference.

Help us to recognize those worthy individuals with CAM’s Founders, Innovators and Distinguished Service Awards. Visit our webpage to see the history of the awards and to obtain nomination forms. The deadline for nominations has been moved to September 30.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

CAM’s Annual General Meeting will be held at our annual conference. It is the time when the executives, directors and management of the Canadian Association of Movers report to members on our operations, activities and finances over the last year, and the opportunities and challenges for the upcoming year.

We have had several directors who have served the association and the industry well over many years and who will end their terms at this Annual General Meeting. We are looking for a few directors to represent members from across the country. Nominate a fellow member to serve as a director of CAM. Send your nominations to CAM’s national office. The deadline for the nominations of directors is October 31.

PART-TIME AND FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, CAM has identified a few sources of part-time and full-time employees, mostly students. Over 300 résumés have been posted to our website in the members-only area.

You will need a user-name and password to access the listings.

  • Username – the contact name exactly as shown in The Canadian Mover or in our online directory
(i.e., John C. Smith – punctuation, upper and lower case as shown)
  • Password – your membership number in four digits as it is shown on all your CAM invoices to the right of SEQUENCE. If your number is less than four digits (i.e., 33), add zeroes to the beginning, e.g., 0033.

The applicants are listed by the type of employment they are looking for (driver, helper, clerical or sales), part-time or full-time and postal code.

Résumé Search Page. Enter the first half of your postal code to access a list of candidates in your area. Visit often since more are being added every day.
