Moving Seniors Safely Week - Mar 23 to Apr 3, 2022

Recognizing that there’s a lack of knowledge and awareness about many of the pitfalls – be it financial, emotional, and physical – of moving, the Canadian Association of Movers (CAM), the Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) and Organize Anything have teamed up to present “Moving Seniors Safely Week.” This event is designed to provide education and tools for not only older Canadians, but their adult children and friends as well. Driven by the desire to set Seniors and Zoomers up for success, these organizations will be sharing their collective wisdom via panel discussions, webinars, handouts, and other useful resources

Move For Hunger

Move For Hunger

More than 42 million Americans face hunger every day including 1 in 6 children. Meanwhile, 40% of the food produced in the United States every year is wasted. Move For Hunger offers a sustainable solution to this inexcusable paradox. Their network of socially-responsible relocation companies provides their customers, clients, and residents with the opportunity to donate their food when they move. Members of Move For Hunger also volunteer to host/assist with community food drives, participate in cause marketing campaigns, and create employee giving programs. Since 2009, Move For Hunger has delivered more than 22 million pounds of food to food banks across the United States and Canada. That’s the equivalent of 18 million meals.

*new*  2021 Year in Review - Move for Hunger let us know that 69 of our CAM members, who are signed up for the MFH program, have helped transport 399,866 meals for Canadian families in need. Well done!

Deserving of special recognition are these three members who, together, rescued 290,272 meals.

Transit Secours / Shelter Movers
