Commendation:

Cam Carswell, former owner of Country Wide Moving & Storage, is receiving the Canadian Association of Movers' Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the moving industry and his steadfast leadership in CAM over 17 years.

Like many in our industry, Cam comes from a long line of movers.

In the early 1900s, his great-grandfather founded a drayage company in Melfort, Saskatchewan.

The family business expanded from local moves by horse and wagon in the 1940s to long-distance trucking in the 1960s, to become an Allied Van Lines agent in the 1970s—a partnership that continues today.

Cam officially joined the company as a partner in 1980 and spearheaded expansion into Prince Albert and Saskatoon.  Rebranded as Country Wide Moving & Storage in 1993, the company is now the largest international mover in Saskatchewan.

Cam’s early roots in moving led to his determination to raise the quality of service for customers.  It was a natural progression for Cam to carry this passion for the industry into a long-term relationship with our association.  He joined CAM in 2007 and served as Vice-chair from 2015 to 2017.

He graduated to the role of Chair for 2017 and 2018, after which he continued to serve in the position of past Chair for a further 5 years. Cam is the association’s longest serving member – having served for a total of 17 years!

This is truly a milestone for this association – one that will be difficult to surpass.

During his service to CAM, he was seen as a consummate professional and stood as a sterling example of a reputable mover.  Cam helped the association promote excellence and ethics in this industry.

During his tenure, he served as a guiding light for the association.  He steered us through the initial changes in our association with the arrival of Nancy as our new president.  He was always available to bounce concepts off.

He encouraged the changes that were required to streamline processes and supported us with the transition into the more efficient and viable association you see today.

It’s evident that Cam cared about the association’s growth and well-being.  He made sure he was available for every meeting – whether it was the board or one of the many committees that met...unless, of course, it interfered with his curling time.

In all seriousness, the Association expresses profound gratitude for his friendship, steadfast support, and unmatched record of service.
